The First Ideal
[Where most people are frantically out and about, trying to find out where they were and what was going on, a strange green-haired boy was sitting on the fountain, inspecting the "relic" he was given.
As he stares, it's clearly more than the curious gaze of the common person. In his mind, he is deconstructing the object, observing how it fits together, what elements make it function. He carefully moves the wire around, seeing how securely it was placed, then dabs his finger on the exhaust pipe to gauge temperature.]
Strange.
[The observation is almost involuntarily expressed, as N isn't apparently looking for anyone to speak to him about it. He runs his fingers over the seams, wondering if it was fit into place or welded. In a very swift and train of thought mutter,]
This shouldn't work.

[regardless of whether you were looking for someone to speak with, you got one. mainly because he's happy to see someone else that looks out of place -- and clam enough to discuss it.]
On that note, what should or shouldn't it be doing? I couldn't figure that thing out myself.

This sort of technology is something to be expected solely of fiction, as steam technology was greatly impeded by several limitations such as consumption of fuel, incompatibility with smaller scale devices such as this one, and a required maintenance that should be entirely unrealistic for this device.
[He shakes his head, as if in thought.]
Why not simply charge it with electricity? Why use a steam generator? This entire area appears to rely on steam, however, so I should perhaps be looking for fire type Pokemon that would be supplying the great heat for the turbines.
no subject
...What?
no subject
Steam engines shouldn't function under these circumstances. It's not in the design of the machine.
no subject
Alright. And what exactly is a steam engine?

no subject
You didn't even touch it.
no subject
Elevators? [ head tilt. ]
No, no, no... I'm not allowed to touch things! So I don't!

Oh no, he's not saying anything...did I say something I shouldn't have? Did I do something wrong? W-wa, what should I do?
What would um... [ wait, she has no reliable role model to recall. ]
I'm sorry!

[... Oh, it's just a kid. Kirino stares at the relic in the older boy's hands, before glancing down at his own. Somewhere in the back of his mind, the pink-haired boy is wondering if maybe he should have left the other alone, but well, it was too late for that.]
no subject
Not having anything to reply with, as he wasn't necessarily well-stocked with pleasantries, he simply stared at the strange boy quietly.]

Oh man now I have to decide if countries are Things. Surge is an American, I guess there's Japan??
I guess?
no subject
But it does! I don't think it should matter all that much, since this is just a game.

[He hops off the crates and extends a hand for this newcomer.]
I'm Takeshi. We're in a virtual reality game called The World, and sadly? There isn't a log out option. I've tried.
no subject
[He'd read something about that, once, as science fiction.]
That would be impressive, for it to simulate even touch and scent. There's no way to disconnect?
no subject
Yeah, isn't it? It's state of the art technology, et cetera, et cetera! Couldn't believe it when I first arrived here, too. I mean, I was on the plane, right? And I hop off for Beijing, and the next thing I knew? BAM! Hello Mac Anu! 'S all weird, and I miss home, but there really isn't a way to disconnect.
The GMs are working on it, though. I think.

okay, no, but there is a white wolf sitting on the fountain's edge, doing the people watching thing. with a tilt of its head and a rather bored yawn, she watches the boy that's marveling(?) over the Relic.
he certainly did seem to be pretty content talking to himself.
but after a moment of consideration, she hops off of the fountain and pads over to him. the distance...isn't too great, but, still! might as well give this person a greeting, right?
and her form of greeting, while in this form, is giving a loud whuff up at him.]

Hello... I've never seen anyone like you.

it makes her tail wag and ears perk. also makes cause for her to give a light headbump to his leg.]
no subject
I'm N. Do you have a name?
no subject
but what's this? his name is N?
she tilts her head up to look at him]
Whuff!
[very nice to meet you, and all that. her name is Amaterasu. (and, with a passing thought, she wonders: could he even understand her? not many could understand her in this form.)]
