Third Shot

[Shinon is up to her usual level grinding! But this time she's armed with a new weapon. To fully test it out within the restraints of The World, she can be found in a couple of different situations.]

[Maybe you just spotted that group of monsters and were about to go in for the kill. Or maybe you were just enjoying the scenery - it is a lovely day out in this area, after all.

Either way, that group of monsters? The biggest of them just got a large hole blown into its head, even though there doesn't seem to be anybody nearby to make the attack. Before long, the remaining two follow suit.

Those who are observant may be able to trace the shots to a small figure on a different island, armed with a sniper rifle nearly as long as she is tall. Want to go investigate?]

[Dungeon]

[While she's still carrying that same weapon along with her, she seems to have paused in an empty area for the moment. It's hard to say whether she's just resting, thinking, or both. Now would be a great time to catch her for the curious or talkative, though!]

[Well that's out of the blue. But in hindsight, who else would have access to a weapon like that?]

No, I'm not.

Ah -- s-sorry, then.

[ He's aware of that, so the response leaves him crestfallen. ]

Let's... keep an eye out on enemies. I've got a couple of offensive spells, just in case.

[She probably would have come to the same conclusion in his place.]

Right. If you're a caster-class, we'll both have to watch out for attacks. I don't think either of us could take many hits.

[Though she's certainly not afraid to start moving again, her gaze constantly shifting as she is on the alert.]

Y-Yeah.

[ ... as much as it hurts him to admit it. A pause follows. ]

You okay with teaming up?

[ At least there have been no signs that would indicate otherwise, so he follows the girl, unsurely at first. ]

You came here to gain levels too, right? We might as well.

[And since he's someone she knows and even gets along with, she's not going to just PK him for a monopoly on the EXP, either.]

If you don't want to compete for points, we can form a party too.

[ ... If he only knew that was one of the options, he probably would be a little bit less eager. ]

I need to train. I... I don't want to stay behind just because I'm a healer, you know. [ after a moment of bitterness, his face brightens up a bit. ] Compete?

[ Not that he'd stand a chance, but... ]

We can both go after any monster, no holds barred. Of course, that also means you can finish off an enemy at the last second before the other can to get more EXP.

...If you're fast enough.

[ Despite not being that strong, a streak of competitiveness is present in this one. ]

[ besides, it's not exactly numbers he's going for - seeking strength, you need to look beyond that. That said, he tightens his grip on his weapon. ]

[Was that a smirk? Hope's not the only competitive person here.]

Alright. We'll start at the next room, then.

[She begins to walk to the next chamber, which is thankfully not set for an ambush. And as luck would have it, there are two groups of monsters here, although one is further away than the other. For her part, she'll be slipping into the room to get into a better position to shoot from; there's no point in cluttering the doorway.

...Also part of her hopes he'll draw aggro first so she won't have to worry about it as much.]
