Third Shot

[tank_sniper]

[Shinon is up to her usual level grinding! But this time she's armed with a new weapon. To fully test it out within the restraints of The World, she can be found in a couple of different situations.]

[Maybe you just spotted that group of monsters and were about to go in for the kill. Or maybe you were just enjoying the scenery - it is a lovely day out in this area, after all.

Either way, that group of monsters? The biggest of them just got a large hole blown into its head, even though there doesn't seem to be anybody nearby to make the attack. Before long, the remaining two follow suit.

Those who are observant may be able to trace the shots to a small figure on a different island, armed with a sniper rifle nearly as long as she is tall. Want to go investigate?]

[Dungeon]

[While she's still carrying that same weapon along with her, she seems to have paused in an empty area for the moment. It's hard to say whether she's just resting, thinking, or both. Now would be a great time to catch her for the curious or talkative, though!]

[She spots him through her scope and lowers the gun, standing at her full (if still not much) height. It's a bit far to call out, but maybe if she waves he'll spot her?]

[minetodecide]

[Nnnnope not there, not there either. He sighs and pauses for a moment before looking in her direction. He spots something or someone in the distance, he can't quite tell.]

(Is that her?)

[He leans in and squints his eyes and stares into the distance. Once he's identified the person as Shinon, he leans back and waves before walking to her.]

[tank_sniper]

[She'll start making her way over, looking quite comfortable toting that gun along. In a way, she's more comfortable with this one than she ever was with the bayonets found in The World.]

Hey. [As she draws closer Ryusei spots the sniper rifle she's carrying.]

That's some gun. I don't remember seeing something like that in the shops.

[tank_sniper]

That's because it's not from a shop, either in The World or the game I got it from.

[minetodecide]

Really? Was it locked in your inventory?

[tank_sniper]

Yeah, it was. Until recently, anyway.

[minetodecide]

Hmm..[He looks closer at the gun, studying it's features.]

Does it run on ammunition, or is it like the bayonets in the shops?

[tank_sniper]

I have to buy ammunition in the shops. It's hard to find though, so I can't use it as often as the bayonet.

[Scowl. She just wants to use her damn rifle gosh darn it.]

[minetodecide]

I could imagine it would be. It's pretty surprising that this place would even have ammo for a weapon like that.

[tank_sniper]

I was surprised too. It's like they're trying to force me to rely on the bayonet more than Hécate II, but at the same time... if they wanted that, I don't see why they would let me have any ammunition at all.

[minetodecide]

Hmmm, it's sounds as if this world adjusts to our needs. Like ammo for your gun, or cosmic energy for my swi-[Woah! Alert! Keep that trap shut boy!]-uhh I mean, radio.

[tank_sniper]

[...]

Your radio runs on cosmic energy?

[minetodecide]

H-hey! How far can that reach?! Could you hit those guys?

[He points at a bunch of enemies in the distance.]

[tank_sniper]

[Staaaaaaaare. Yeah, she's obviously still suspicious of him, but she'll let it drop.

For now.]

I could. But right now it would just be a waste of ammo.

[minetodecide]

[Don't stare at him like that, he panicked.]

I-I see.

[A pause.]

Isn't it kinda hard to move carrying that around?

[tank_sniper]

A little. I don't think my strength stat is high enough to use it to its full potential.

[Which is why she's calmly switching it out for her bayonet now.]
