Ah, I see. It worked, at first, but problems arose in modern times. Man's free spirit created so many purposes for life, the world was saturated with them. Life became easier... desires were easily met... and the will to live was lost. And so, it became the world that the Shining One knows so well.

Is that the fate of many other worlds?

[ooc:That's a tricky question that the game never addresses. There are a lot of variables that I don't know about; how many worlds has Alcor kick-started, for instace? So have a sort-of-copout answer.]

From a relative perspective, no. My superior oversees many worlds, and I have seen but few of them. Strangely, it seems to have no power here.... What could that mean?

From my experiences, it means this world might lie in an entirely different dimension, not just a different planet.

Ah, how is it that you already knew of such matters? That is what I had meant by "world".

We've already achieved space travel, though we haven't the means to go any further than our galaxy. It's only been a few weeks since I was even able to travel to another dimension before coming here.

It was... Saddening to see the ruins of such an advanced civilization.

But I wonder if that was their own doing. There was hardly any organic lifeforms left on that world. Is that kind of progress worth their own destruction?

So what were the achievements of the people in this other world?

From what I pieced together, they were the ones who created the technology to cross dimensions, the Star Rods that provide good dreams, and.. [He hesitates.] the Clockwork Stars.

Clockwork stars? I doubt such a thing would be possible, but as of late I have had more and more of my expectations defied.

It's possible. It's just difficult to summon.

For what purpose would one summon this "clockwork star"?
