[Roberto will tell you what he does not remember doing: changing clothes, going into a Gateway to another world, somehow obtaining new clothes and a weapon? And the device in one hand blinking a cheerful touch me up at him is not helping improve his mood any.

He’s tried circling around the Chaos Gate for some time now, staring at it, thinking that it somewhat resembles a Gateway but. He’s already tried walking closer, into it, and nothing’s happened. Does he have to find a Wanderer in this world or something? (It does not even occur to him to use the relic, of course. He is suspicious.) His eyebrows are furrowed with deep displeasure and there’s a scowl fixed on his face.

He shoves the relic in a pocket and goes about exiting the building wherein the Chaos Gate is contained. He stares at the city and the landscape before him, frowns some more, and heads toward the bridge. Either way, whether it be just outside the building, the bridge, or in the square of Mac Anu itself, you may find yourself victim to a jarring]

Hey, you! [because what are manners when you have questions.]

[ steam gunner looking up from where he had been flicking through his relic! ]

Are you speaking to me?

Yeah, I am. [Roberto frowns a bit and then gestures at the relic.] --what is that thing?

[resipiscence]

[ blinks. stares down at his relic. ah-- he looks up and smiles a little. ] I see. So you've just arrived.

[ NOTICE HOW HE HASN'T ANSWERED THE QUESTION YET. ]

[doggedness]

[oh, Roberto's noticed. He resists the urge to frown (more, that is).]

Yeah? And if I have? [He'd just like to go back argh.]

Oh, it's nothing. It just occurred to me that that answered a few of my own questions.

[ :'D ] This is called a Relic. Are you familiar with video games at all?

[doggedness]

What?

[Roberto wonders if he should've called out to this kid, after all. Side-eyeing.]

"Video games"? I've never heard of anything like that.

[resipiscence]

[ yeah, no, er. you picked a part-time troll. smiling! ] I see. Then this explanation wouldn't make much sense.

[ mrrr how to explain... ] Think of it as being trapped in an alternate reality, if you believe in that sort of thing.

[doggedness]

[Roberto makes excellent life choices always. He shifts his stance, folding both arms over his chest.]

An...alternate reality. [Only a little unsure.]

[ he can sense your unsure... though he doesn't think he'll do anything about it for now. best to explain the situation first, and then answer any lingering doubts. ]

The change of clothes and the weapon you've probably received contributes to that. Though to be entirely honest, it's still unclear what the overall goal is.

[The mention of the clothes and weapon has his attention because Roberto's got his priorities straight--]

That-- Is being stuck in these clothes, with this sword [said with such disdain because no sword can compare to a black blade] some kind of requirement of this place?

[resipiscence]

Something like that. [ /so chipper. and beautiful priorities... ] It defines your 'class' and it grants you powers. Rather useful.

[doggedness]

[Roberto isn't sure he's happy with that chipperness but at least he's getting answers.]

My 'class'?

[resipiscence]

A designation. [ eying your costume... ] What weapon did you get upon arrival?

[doggedness]

Some sword. I don't see why. I had a perfectly good one up until now.

[But nope. No black blade for Roberto.]

[resipiscence]

All might not be lost. I heard you can get it back.

[doggedness]

What? Really?

[resipiscence]

Yes. Once you reach a certain level-- or so the hearsay goes, anyway.

[doggedness]

And how am I supposed to get to this..."level"? [Roberto you're from an rpg why is this strange-- Lack of meta knowledge, alas.]

By defeating monsters. [ smiling!! yep. ]

[doggedness]

That's it? Where are they, then?

Around. So eager to get your sword back?

[doggedness]

Of course I am. This flimsy sword doesn't even compare to a black blade. And besides that, my clothes, and armour.

[They're a symbol of his being a member of the Blades, after all!]

[resipiscence]

... it sounds like you're no stranger to fighting.

[doggedness]

[He blinks, then draws himself up some.]

I'm not. There are monsters and such that need to be fought where I'm from.

[resipiscence]

It sounds dangerous. But if that's your sort of background, you might just fit right in.
